- aside from the collaboration, minsan din eh hindi lumalabas sa panel nung ibang yung messages (muc)

September 4, 2006
the group prepared the report and the slides for the class presentation. the members have finished the application user interface draft. they have also been reading JEP’s. ariel has been doing research on connecting to a Jabber server i.e, the GTalk server.
The group will be working in JRDC this tuesday-wednesday to start on the primary implementation of the Pisara Editor application.
progress report for 8/15-8/21
August 21, 2006
for this week, we tested Spark, an XMPP-based chat application. At first, we had a difficult time in configuring how can we connect to other servers. But we were able to use the application using ariel’s server last thursday. we are planning to study the application, since it is an open-source app, for the instant messaging feature of our project.
last friday and saturday, the group had their first overnight stay at jrdc. we started to make the uml for the project. the use-case, class and activity diagrams are designs we have just finished working on. reah posted these at our wiki. she also finished posting the background of the study, objectives, statement of the problem, etc. at the wiki.
during the overnight stay, we also started designing the initial prototype of the Pisara editor. although we haven’t finished it yet, we are planning to finish it within this week.
the group is still studying the RFC’s of the XMPP. hannah have read the RFC that is about signing and object encryption on XMPP, she posted the summary at securing XMPP messages and presence information post.
ariel have just read the RFC 4622 (Internationalized Resource Identifiers [IRI] and Uniform Resource Identifiers [URI] for Extensible Messaging Presence Protocol). the summary is posted at URI’s and IRI’s for XMPP.
so far, the group is still right on schedule. the details about the progress we’ve made are stated in our previous posts, this is just the summary of all the things we’ve done last week.
Progress Report for 8/6 – 8/14
August 14, 2006
Since we’re on the research phase of our project, we have been doing research on stuff that are needed for the application. Most of the posts that come before this one are summarized here.
Hannah has summarized the minutes of the meeting we have scheduled last week in order to set our schedule for the remaining month(s) of the semester.
- Aside from completing the prototype of the application, our other goal is to add the primary implementation (i.e., application prototype, instant messaging) to the application before the semester ends (as stated in our gantt chart)
- We have decided to set our schedule for overnights and online meetings in order to maximize our time in working on the project.
Hannah has studied the XMPP core features as stated from the XMPP CORE Features post.
Ariel studied a few about the reference models used in designing an architecture for an application, and then went on looking at the different Jabber servers available over the internet and checked on the differences of each one of them
Reah has started reading on XMPP RFC’s and looked into the advantages of XMPP on Collaborative applications.
Most of the updates are stated in detail in the previous posts (before this one). This is just a summary to emphasize what we have done so far.
